Update from Thom

O.k. gang here's the deal on Madonna. She has a right front shoulder injury and we are giving her the most love and physical therapy that we can while we have her for 36 hours. Brent's dogs are looking really good otherwise. A few small wrist injuries and a sore shoulder or two is all that's needing attention. That's a really good injury report considering the fast hardpacked trail. Brent is sleeping right now, and Kyla and I are giving the dogs as much love as humanly possible. Jen, we will treat Madonna as if she was "precious". Eagle and Thunder are doing well and recovering from their shoulder injuries. When someone with a camera wakes up we'll send some photo's your way. Thanks for all your love and support everyone.
In other news. Molly and Rosie let almost the whole way from Scroggie, so Brent is excited about Molly doing great.
I also spoke to Iris Sutten's handlers and they gave a glowing report on how Jerry is doing in her team. She has mostly been running in Swing or as a team dog, but I'm sure she'll get her chance to lead in the remaining 500 miles. When she arrives, we'll get a photo of Jerry for everyone.
It was a bummer and a bit of a surprise to see Ritchie Beattie scratch in the 300 as I know we were all pulling for him to do well since he was running Brent's Skunk in the team. Hopefully all went well with him, but I have nothing else to report on why Ritchie scratched.
Wild and Free in the tarped Hizouse!

Thanks a lot Thom!

Thanks for the quick updates, Thom. You guys are doing a stellar job out there! With all the puppy massages, Im sure Madonna will be chomping at the bit to get back on trail. Extra ear rubs from all of us on the sidelines!

Have fun in Dawson - I expect a full report, Miss Kyla...
Screech! mindy

Brent you are doing great! It's so exciting to see you running up front. Have a good rest!

Here some {{<3 <3 love and hugs <3 <3}} for Madonna and the rest of the dogs.

Way to go Molly!!!

YQ site update said you were in to Dawson, but glad to "see" you there now too. Thanks to the team for the updates - it's what makes the race for us fans.

howls 'n hugs,
-Pat and greyhounds Julia and Gordo

Great job on the updates. I'm glad and thankful for what news and pictures you are relating to us, keep up the good work and I hope Brent has a good rest and a great finish to the race...

Way to go Wild and Free (and crazy) team and super handlers and bloggers! Brenty you are in perfect position for leaving Dawson- nice job!
Too bad to see Eagle dropped- but hope all that lovin' gets Madonna back in action.
We will be raising a glass to all of you here in Fairbanks.

Sarah & Tom & Siri & the TBK crew

Hey Team Wild & Free & Posse - Thanks for the scoop from Dawson! Glad that nothing major is wrong with Madonna. 36 hours should do the trick for everyone, even Brent. The media said Brent showed up and no surprise his team looked stellar. :)

xo - Em & Nick Sass

Keep it up Brent and handlers! Thanks for the updates. Great race so far!

Sarah T in Victoria... wishing I was in Dawson!

Way to go Brent and the Wild and Free team!! You guys are in great position to make a move out of Dawson - and I hear that there's some WildandFree weather on the way too. Sad to see Eagle dropped - but have faith you all can bring Madonna back to action.

Thom and Aren - awesome job with the updates!!!!!!

Best of luck on the run from Dawson to Fairbanks.

A big howl out to Brent and the gang. I have been following the fantastic blog from the South Pacific. All my guests are rooting for you!

A big thank you to the gang running the blog.

Brent, I think you have the toughest team and the slickest support crew out there! I look forward to following the next 500 miles!

Good luck, and smooth trails.....
Alastair

Great job Brent and your Wild and Free team. We are following from Deerfield and missing the mushing scene this year. Have a great run to Fairbanks.

Mouse, Butch, Skip and Sam

Thanks for your updates and comments. I look forward to new notes and pictures. This has been very interesting.
Best wishes to you Brett, cheering for you from Minnesota.

Thanks again for all the awesome updates! Being a couple of Michgan-based fans with absolutely no mushing coverage at all makes it difficult to follow the races, making your updates all the more valuable to us! We're keeping our fingers crossed that Madonna's shoulder will respond to the massages and rest. We're excited to see the weather forecast shows weather just MADE for the Wild and Free team on the way! We hope Brent & team get a good rest and have a fabulous rest of the race.

YO Walker ~ Where are the pictures and stories you promised?! Its been over 9 painful hours... The people are suffering from withdrawl, man. They are writing in from all over the world, eager for any tidbit of news. We can't be there so, PLEASE Help us get our fix so we can sleep tonight!
~ mindy

Greetings from Brent's fans in North Carolina! Thanks so much for the updates and pics. Needless to say, if you mention the Quest here they say "Yukon what??" so we're especially glad for this blog. Best wishes to Brent and his fabulous team! You're doing GREAT!
The Jacksons

Sadly it is really painful that I do not own a camera or a laptop. Mark Sass is the only one besides Brent with a camera on this crew. That is the reason for not getting J-Gunz the individual photo's of the dogs and for not being able to always get an update to you. I am making my notes to put in Brent's book of things we need for future races. Please feel free to offer any suggestions and or constructive criticism so we can better serve all the sponsors and fans in the future.
Besides spell check :)
Thom
